Francisco Tarrega (1852-1909) was a Spanish guitarist and composer.  He studied classical guitar, then at the Madrid Conservatory he studied piano and composition.   He built an international reputation for his virtuoso guitar performances all over Europe.  He was a major influence in popularizing the classical guitar, which had been neglected for a long time.  Most of his compositions are written for the classical guitar.
