Johann Nepomuk Hummel (1778-1837) was born in Bratislava, the present-day capital of Slovakia. But this city was called Pressburg in Hummel's time, and it was a part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. His family moved to Vienna when he was 7 years old. He received some lessons from Mozart, as Hummel was also an infant prodigy. At the age of 12 he went to London and stayed 2 years, then he returned to Vienna and studied with Haydn amongst others. He became friends with Beethoven.
His music is fundamentally classical in style, with a hint of romanticism.
