Cardif is the capital of Wales, whose area is 20,760 square kilometres, and its population is 2,980,700 people.

Wales had a strong musical culture in the early Middle ages, before it was conquered by England in 1282. Local Princes employed Bards, who played the Welsh Harp, and sang. Sadly, their music was not written down, so it is lost to us today. From the renaissance, through the baroque and classical periods, Welsh culture tended to be dominated by British, and their musicians moved to London.

There was a great resurgence of music in Wales in the 19th century. Choral societies sprang up everywhere, and Welsh Male Voice Choirs are world-famous for their musicianship and enthusiasm.  Brass band also became very popular.  Wales has many folk songs and hymns which express patriotism and pride.
