When Daisies Pied Arne Help Opus Details
For feedback and questions, please contact Victor Gomersall.
Thomas Arne composed When Daisies Pied to words from Shakespeare's Love's Labour's Lost in 1740. It is often called "The cuckoo Song" because of the voice and piano cuckoo imitations in the middle.

When daisies pied and violets blue, And lady-smocks all silver-white
And cuckoo-buds of yellow hue Do paint the meadows with delight,
The cuckoo then, on every tree, Mocks married men; for thus sings he,
O, word of fear, Unpleasing to a married ear!

This arrangement of Arne's lovely song is for flute with piano accompaniment.
