The Flatt'rer (La Lisonjera) Chaminade Help Opus Details
For feedback and questions, please contact Victor Gomersall.
French pianist Cécile Chaminade (1857-1944) was one of the first women to forge a composing career. She studied at the Paris Conservatory with Félix Le Coupey. Chaminade was known as a stylish pianist who also wrote more than two hundred salon style pieces. Her serious compositions included a Choral Symphony, the Concertstück, Opus 40, and two Piano Trios. Chaminade's salon compositions were popular enough to be played for three generations, although the performance of her music declined along with home music making. La Lisonjera (The Flatt'rer) is described by writer Maurice Hinson as "delicate and imaginative with some unexpected happenings."
