Serenade for Strings in E Op 22 2nd movement - Tempo di Valse Dvořák Help Opus Details
For feedback and questions, please contact Victor Gomersall.
Dvorak's Serenade for Strings Op 22 was composed in 1875. It remains one of the composer's most popular orchestral works to this day. Dvorák reputedly wrote the Serenade in 12 days, from May 3 to the 14th. It was first played in Prague in 1876. The string orchestra score was published in 1878, though the composer's own reduction to piano duet was published two years earlier.

This 2nd movement is marked tempo di valse, and it is indeed a lovely, lilting tune.
