Pomp and Circumstance March No.4 in G Elgar Help Opus Details
For feedback and questions, please contact Victor Gomersall.
Elgar's most creative and successful period was between 1899 and 1919, when he was in his 40s and 50s. His Pomp and Circumstance Marches became enormously popular in Britain, which was full of jingoistic patriotism in this Edwardian period. Elgar became an unofficial national musical laureate. But Elgar had to wait until 1924 before he was officially given the post of Master of the King's Music.

Like the even more famous march no 1 in Eb, this 4th Pomp and Circumstance March contains a stately and unforgetable melody as its second theme.
