Agnus Dei from requiem Fauré Help Opus Details
For feedback and questions, please contact Victor Gomersall.
Of all the requiems composed in the 19th century, this one by Fauré stands out as the most comforting for the living. The Agnus Dei in particular is calm, even joyous. Fauré's contemporaries Berlioz and Saint-Saens were both tempted to use the dramatic plainsong tune Dies Irae (Latin = 'Day of Wrath') to inject anger and fear into their compositions, but not so Fauré.
