Sinfonia Concertante for violin and viola 3rd Movement Mozart Help Opus Details
For feedback and questions, please contact Victor Gomersall.
Mozart wrote this double concerto 5 years after he had completed his 5 violin concertos. The name Sinfonia Concertante given to it by Mozart suggests a baroque influence, which is revealed by the high level of integration between the 2 soloists and the orchestra. This 3rd movement is a fast presto in which the first theme is played by piano as a solo (in reality an orchestral tutti), then the second theme is played alternately by the violin and the viola.
