This music was once attributed to the Prince of Wales (later George IV). The subject was said to be Mrs. Fitzherbert, who was a celebrated beauty. However, this is not true, the music is by James Hood, and the words celebrates a young lady who lived in Richmond, Yorkshire, who became the wife of the poet Leonard McNally.
